Objective: to learn about pharmacy practice in the U.S. and improve their practice in Japan
Why do they come to the U.S. for ideas?
Although there are considerable differences between the healthcare system in Japan vs. the one in U.S. (such as single payer system vs. multiple payers system), many of Japanese health care practices are modeled after the U.S. system. Therefore, many things they discover here can be applied in Japanese healthcare setting.
Especially, they visit the United States to resolve challenges such as:
Staff education, satisfaction & retention
Quality & Patient safety issues (medication errors, infection controls, fall preventions, etc.)
Efficient collaboration among multi disciplines
Continuum of care
